Oh snap
Not even a mission selection?

I found a quick state save (like the ones in emulators) at one site, but : 1 - I haven't tried it and 2- it requires firmware.

Nope. And as much as I wish it were, my game is Metal Slug Anthology, instead of the direct port.
You can save your progress in Metal Slugs 1-5 but not in 6 for some reason. So... yeah.

Is it difficult to install firmware?

Usually, no.
It's just a small program and you'll also need a pandora battery and a specially-prepared memory stick.

A battery what now? oof. Doesn't sound like something I'll be able to do.

A pandora battery is a PSP slim/phatt modified battery that allows you to install the custom firmwares.
If you ask me "how I do one", I'm going to tell you: you got to open your battery and stuff (not safe). There's how to do it on youtube but I really don't recommend you to do it, but to try to find to buy instead.
I got my PSP already modded and stuff, so I really have no idea how to do it

Nice. Long story short, I'm not going to be able to do it.

You will, but it's going to require some effort of your part

You mean a lot of effort. Tongue
Thanks for the tutorials by the way.

I'm going to try modding my PSP, and as soon as it works or fails I'll notify everyone.

RE: Does anybody have a PSP with custom firmware?
Well first of all if you have at least version 6.20 firmware on your PSP then I'd forget it. I could be wrong, but its been known for a while that you can't really do anything to mod a PSP at that point. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I"m pretty sure there's no way to do it.So assuming you can still hack your PSP, lets move on.

Actually it'd best NOT to cut open your battery because if you manually make one you can NEVER use it as a regular battery unless you were very careful turning it back. I'd say order one online from somewhere that looks reputable if you really want one since its kind of a bitch to do. It may take a few weeks to arrive, but it was worth it for me. The magic memory stick can be done with any memory stick so don't even worry about it and just download the files for one somewhere. I could give them to you too, but you'd need the battery before you could use them.

I also don't recommend you opening the battery because it got lithium inside, so one screw-up and ...KA-BOOOM! D:
Try to find one on the internet to buy instead.

Yeah, I'm not going to screw around with the battery.

And by the way, if one of you already made the dump go ahead and post it because this is going to take a while, and I'm running low on tiles.

Well, whaddya know, I already had made a memory dump for Rootmars, about 1 1/2 years ago.

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2w5kto2jdzk

There's one for every character riding every exclusive vehicle (Donkey Slug, Rootmars, Slug Digger, and Slug Gunner Prototype). Just pick one of the *-Rootmars.dmp files, it should be the one you want. You'll need 7-Zip to extract the files, but it shouldn't be a problem, considering it's freeware.

Nice! Is it just a regular dump, or is it anything special? Because I need the tiles for the Winged Venusian.

I'm not entirely sure, but if it appears in the same scene, then its tiles are most likely loaded up at the same time. I'll go check shortly.
