Heck, usually it be that way unless you're insanely lucky with how the game's graphics are encoded.

Hopefully it'll stop like how people (for the most part) stopped misspelling Hariet from Odyssey, but I don't have much faith in that since she actually got to appear in a finished product.

...this is very rapidly becoming a pet peeve of mine.

Ironically, I've had ideas for how Balloon Fighter would work as a playable character in a fighting game, most of which incorporate the idea of him being an air-based fighter, so its pretty humorous how you and I have had similar concepts.
