I believe the subtitle was added by Sega of America to help bolster sales. |

| Jan 13, 2024 4:48 AM * | Cheesy Mac n Cheese | Game: Virtual Console | @BillyBnMOfficial It varies, both by console and by release date (in the summer of 2008 they added LZ77 encryption for NES and SNES games, and then switched to LZH8 encryption in January or February 2009). For the two N64 games I've done so far, it was inside the file html.arc (strange name, since the NES and SNES manuals all had "emanual" somewhere in the file name), which can be opened with Switch Toolbox (because Nintendo likes to recycle file formats and has been using ARC files for every console since the GameCube). I don't yet know if later N64 releases changed the manual encryption, but once all the extra encryption is stripped, Switch Toolbox is the best program to use for the resulting ARC files. Update: The first few manuals stored in files called “htmlc.arc” are apparently impossible to extract. A later version of the same compression can be extracted, but nobody ever got around to cracking the first. Ugh. |
