A lot of early sprite rips were either designed for sprite comics or were captured from an emulator by removing the layers. The idea of putting them in boxes and listing them by their animation was a rarity (mainly fighting games/beat em ups but some rippers did put in the effort even in the early days). Probably also the ripper might have merged the various Mario & Luigi sheets together or each section was ripped at different times. It seems the Frog Suit and Cape do match in terms of animation order.

Yeah, I based these somewhat on both the NES and ALTTP Lanmola. The big mandibles and multiple eyes comes from the ALTTP artwork, but behavior wise, in my head, I thought of them in terms of the NES Lanmola.

Dec 15, 2023 9:21 PM MattNL Asset: Map Icons Well most of these are actually used. The white X was used to mark an active End Portal on the map at one point, but this functionality is no longer in the game, and honestly could've been some weird hiccup or even exclusive feature. The red triangle is not used as far as I'm aware. The white dot on the right sheet is no longer used in favor of the dots on the left sheet. These are used for when players are off of the map, which is impossible in Xbox 360 Edition, and the other old gen versions of Legacy Console Edition, without hacking due to the world size. The green downward arrow is apparently used on explorer maps and the red x on the left sheet is used for treasure explorer maps for buried treasure.

Dec 15, 2023 8:07 PM * MattNL Game: Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Oh, and as a puzzling addendum: The font sprites are not actually used for the game's text at all, but rather ONLY for the splash messages on the title screen. The actual text in game, and on the menu buttons and UI and such, utilize a TTF font file in the game's media.arc file. I have no idea why this is the case.
Dec 15, 2023 8:04 PM * MattNL Game: Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition @teh_supar_hackr Yeah so for some reason, and I'm not entirely sure why, 4J added all of the Java release 1.2 assets in the very first update, TU1 (in the res/1.2.2 directory), or possibly even a pre-release build. None of these files were ever used, but some were copied and put into the game's actual directory. Now despite the fact that they aren't used, that doesn't necessarily mean that the game doesn't try to read them. At the very least, none of the DLC uses that directory. The history of LCE UI files are quite confusing, and I've been working on some research to understand it better. Also I apologize for the way that message came off before!! I sounded mean and I don't mean to come off that way if I did!!

Edit: While the Java achievement assets were still unused, the Wii U and Switch editions DO have Achievement screens since they don't have native achievement systems obviously. They seem to use the same icons from the Xbox 360 Edition.

Another Edit: Today (December 17th, 2023) I've discovered that early versions of the game, at least Title Update 3-Title Update 12 DID use the 1.2.2 folder! Although most assets inside were still not utilized, the terrain.png and item.png atlases at the very least were.
