| Jul 26, 2020 4:06 PM | Ton | Update: Sheets and Leaks | For anyone complaining; sprite ripping is a VERY grey area, legally. We could theoretically be shut down by any of the companies whose graphics we host at any time. What’s more, nearly every (if not every) major gaming company knows we exist. They visit the site, use our sheets, etc. This is documented. We have an unspoken relationship with them that they turn a blind eye as long as we don’t do things that run against them. This, unequivocally, does. In order to stay operational, we won’t be venturing into these waters. There are plenty of other people out there who are posting graphics. Use them. |
| Jul 26, 2020 3:34 PM | Gaia | Game: Super Robot Wars W | Licensing? Hm, I remember early SRW titles having it as an optional unit, a stronger version of the Getter. That being said can't wait for the remaining two. |

| Jul 26, 2020 3:16 PM | Random Talking Bush | Update: Sheets and Leaks | @ObsidianPlague: So you're saying it's perfectly fine for people to break into corporate servers and steal / redistribute terabytes of personal information, damaging the livelihoods of others in the process? There's an astronomical difference between ripping content from games that were released to the public as-is (i.e., nothing that we haven't seen before) and redistributing confidential information that nobody outside Nintendo was ever meant to see. Have this Tweet thread from Cheesemeister3k. He explains the situation quite well. |
| Jul 26, 2020 3:11 PM | Murphmario | Update: Sheets and Leaks | Maybe the sheets could be allowed once the coast is cleared in, say, by the end of this year? Chances are if TCRF and SMWCentral are fine, then TSR would be too. |
| Jul 26, 2020 3:08 PM | ObsidianPlague | Update: Sheets and Leaks | Oh hey, check that out, it looks like VG Resource staff proved themselves to be a bunch of hypocrites |

| Jul 26, 2020 2:09 PM | ElmerMouseFan34 | Update: Sheets and Leaks | @RedDashGames Yes, the leak that happened back in May had Spaceworld prototypes of Pokémon Gold and Silver, but they are from a different year. The one dumped 2 years ago was the Gold Version demo seen in Spaceworld '97, while the leak from May 2020 had the Gold and Silver versions demos from Spaceworld '99. In other words, the page (https://www.spriters-resource.com/game_boy_gbc/pokemongoldsilverspaceworld1997prototype/) is OK to be in here as it wasn't from this year's leaks and from a cartridge that, despite being stolen, it ended up in someone's hands (just like the Simon Wai prototype of Sonic 2). Edit: Ok, we're dealing with Nintendo and NOT Sega, so this might be difficult to compare the Pokémon demo from '97 with Sonic 2's prototype. |

| Jul 26, 2020 1:08 PM | DogToon64 | Game: Sonic Blast | You'd have to be really bored to rip sprites from this piece of crap. I never liked this Sonic game, I consider it one of the worst I've played along with Sonic Labyrinth. The graphics suck, the special stage is boring, the controls are terrible, you get stuck on loops, and the music is awful I give this game a 0/10 Why SEGA? WHY!? Here's a video I made so ya'll will know why you get stuck on loops https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBUdQ30NuEU |

| Jul 26, 2020 11:11 AM | Fawfulthegreat64 | Asset: Mander (Paper Mario-Style) | This enemy was most likely called Mander. At least, that's an internal name that's still referenced in the data. There was Zakomander (the most likely category for this variant, as it means Small Mander), Kingmander (likely an equivalent to Hooktail) and Honemander (equivalent to Bonetail). |

| Jul 26, 2020 10:07 AM | RedDashGames | Update: Sheets and Leaks | Oh and 802 was quite good though that said in under 2 days i uploaded over 93 to the site, with over 50 in Pending. all 10 of the games i ripped i ripped every last graphic from the rom/executable took a whole day just to upload them to the site. hopefully nobody has to go back to them. :P "Brain Exercise with Dr. Kawashima" itself had over 100 massive (high res) sheets that was a nightmare to upload with sub 50kb/s wifi. Oh and if anyone has any sigestions on what to rip and/or how to improve my sheets please let me know. |
| Jul 26, 2020 9:57 AM | RedDashGames | Update: Sheets and Leaks | just to confirm the Pokemon Spaceworld rom was from the same leak, you can in-fact find the original rom inside the Pokemon Gold and Silver source leak. when it was first released they didnt want people to know about all the data they had from the hack so the team behind its release lied saying something along the lines it was dumped from someone who owns a shop in Japan, though we quickly found out the truth. So if you really want to remove all data from these leaks that whole page has to get taken down. |
| Jul 26, 2020 6:37 AM | Radical Charizard | Game: Paper Mario: The Origami King | You know what would be cool? A combo of TTYD and Color Splash styles where it gets squished down like Mr. Game and Watch and it's smooth animations that look like paper. |

| Jul 26, 2020 5:20 AM | Murphmario | Update: Sheets and Leaks | The one Spaceworld 97 proto was dumped from an actual cartridge I believe, similar to the Sonic protos. The other Gold and Silver protos were leaks similar to the Gigaleak's prototypes and aren't allowed for the same reasons said Gigaleak protos aren't. |
| Jul 26, 2020 4:47 AM | Proking235 | Game: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story | It's nice seeing so many sprites getting re-rips as I suggested. I don't know if I directly caused that but it's nice seeing such a poorly treated category getting some love. I hope to see all the sprites here get the treatment that the few new rips have gotten, so we can take this section from one of the worst sections to one of the best. also, the sprites used in my icon are the actual giant Bowser sprite and an edit of it. Some guy on DeviantArt ripped them all. |
| Jul 26, 2020 4:46 AM | Fawfulthegreat64 | Asset: Paper Mario | actually, as I've texture modded the game before, the outline is generated by the game based on the texture. It basically draws the outline around the character's whole body, but not each individual piece. They are indeed models, but the outline isn't a constant thing, it's directly generated based on the textures. Not really sure how to explain it otherwise. The sprites that do have white outlines in this sheet are from special instances in the game where the game uses a single pre-rendered texture as opposed to having split pieces. |

| Jul 25, 2020 10:39 PM * | Petie | Update: Sheets and Leaks | @Tsukiyomaru0 Not everything is so black and white and this was never about fighting leakers. As implied in the original post, we obviously already operate in a gray area but for the most part, bigger companies seem to at least tolerate us and I think that is in large part due to the fact that we do respect their rights. We don’t allow music and make every effort to clarify that the assets found here cannot be used commercially. We don’t upload source code or ROMs nor do we provide instructions or support on how to do so. This situation is different because if we accepted content from these leaks, we would be at the very least indirectly advocating for those who illegally acquired this data and we won’t do that. Much more than game assets were released including confidential and personal information about the developers involved and that just isn’t right. So as I said, this isn’t about the leakers - it’s about respecting Nintendo and their staff just as they’ve done for us through their inaction. @Omega Do you mean like customs based on the style of assets contained in these leaks or something like 1:1 recreations but that weren’t directly obtained from the leaked data? For the former, custom work inspired by it should be fine but in the latter case, no, as it wouldn’t be all too different than just uploading them directly. |
