| Jul 26, 2020 5:20 AM | Murphmario | Update: Sheets and Leaks | The one Spaceworld 97 proto was dumped from an actual cartridge I believe, similar to the Sonic protos. The other Gold and Silver protos were leaks similar to the Gigaleak's prototypes and aren't allowed for the same reasons said Gigaleak protos aren't. |
| Jul 26, 2020 4:47 AM | Proking235 | Game: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story | It's nice seeing so many sprites getting re-rips as I suggested. I don't know if I directly caused that but it's nice seeing such a poorly treated category getting some love. I hope to see all the sprites here get the treatment that the few new rips have gotten, so we can take this section from one of the worst sections to one of the best. also, the sprites used in my icon are the actual giant Bowser sprite and an edit of it. Some guy on DeviantArt ripped them all. |
| Jul 26, 2020 4:46 AM | Fawfulthegreat64 | Asset: Paper Mario | actually, as I've texture modded the game before, the outline is generated by the game based on the texture. It basically draws the outline around the character's whole body, but not each individual piece. They are indeed models, but the outline isn't a constant thing, it's directly generated based on the textures. Not really sure how to explain it otherwise. The sprites that do have white outlines in this sheet are from special instances in the game where the game uses a single pre-rendered texture as opposed to having split pieces. |

| Jul 25, 2020 10:39 PM * | Petie | Update: Sheets and Leaks | @Tsukiyomaru0 Not everything is so black and white and this was never about fighting leakers. As implied in the original post, we obviously already operate in a gray area but for the most part, bigger companies seem to at least tolerate us and I think that is in large part due to the fact that we do respect their rights. We don’t allow music and make every effort to clarify that the assets found here cannot be used commercially. We don’t upload source code or ROMs nor do we provide instructions or support on how to do so. This situation is different because if we accepted content from these leaks, we would be at the very least indirectly advocating for those who illegally acquired this data and we won’t do that. Much more than game assets were released including confidential and personal information about the developers involved and that just isn’t right. So as I said, this isn’t about the leakers - it’s about respecting Nintendo and their staff just as they’ve done for us through their inaction. @Omega Do you mean like customs based on the style of assets contained in these leaks or something like 1:1 recreations but that weren’t directly obtained from the leaked data? For the former, custom work inspired by it should be fine but in the latter case, no, as it wouldn’t be all too different than just uploading them directly. |
| Jul 25, 2020 10:06 PM * | Samey the Hedgewhatever | Game: Sonic the Hedgehog | Hey, where's the level select sheet? It has unique level icons that I can't seem to find anywhere, except from a screenshot of the unused level select on the cutting room floor. Yeah theres 2 level selects for some reason, the unused one doesn't have the special stage icon though |
| Jul 25, 2020 9:49 PM | DogToon64 | Update: Sheets and Leaks | Your welcome for my couple of rips & my Metal Knuckles everyone. (no pun intended) It's hard to believe we got over 800! |
| Jul 25, 2020 9:34 PM | Tsukiyomaru0 | Update: Sheets and Leaks | The Cutting Room Floor doesn't bothers about the means, apparently. Also, by merely extracting assets it is already theft of intellectual property, and what's to say that the prototypes some bought and dumped aren't stole or deals "under the desk"? So... I don't think those were wise word choices in fighting "leakers". |
| Jul 25, 2020 9:34 PM | Omega | Update: Sheets and Leaks | Gotcha, another question: are recreations from this allowed? |
| Jul 25, 2020 9:22 PM | Garamonde | Update: Sheets and Leaks | I know nobody sees what goes on behind the scenes, but we know what we're doing. So no, it's not a double-standard. We talk these things over with eachother carefully all the time before coming to a well-informed decision. |
| Jul 25, 2020 9:20 PM | Random Talking Bush | Update: Sheets and Leaks | @Omega: That's a wholly different situation. It's difficult to say for sure if that prototype was taken from the same leaks or not, but one thing is sure about that -- that wasn't released at the same time as thousands of private documents... |
| Jul 25, 2020 9:08 PM | Omega | Update: Sheets and Leaks | to clarify should this page not exist then? https://www.spriters-resource.com/game_boy_gbc/pokemongoldsilverspaceworld1997prototype/ |
| Jul 25, 2020 8:56 PM | NMarioMaster7 | Asset: Bowser & Jr. (Clown Car) | Aww. Is it just me or does Junior look cute in Bowser's Clown Car. |
| Jul 25, 2020 8:50 PM | TailsSena | Asset: Paper Mario | Okay so the way it work in-game is that the character is a 3D model with this applied as a texture and it gets swapped as needed. The outline is kinda just part of the model it would seem, where the actual texture most of the time doesn't cover the whole surface so a white outline is exposed. |
| Jul 25, 2020 8:46 PM | Tsukiyomaru0 | Update: Sheets and Leaks | I think it should be OK to keep resources that aren't part of the source code, like sprites, music, audio, textures model. The source code on the other hand must never be made public due to the trouble it WILL cause. |
| Jul 25, 2020 8:46 PM | Sarara Shiki-kan | Asset: Noriaki Kakyoin | Ah yes, that iconic pose. |
| Jul 25, 2020 8:38 PM | tannermanner | Game: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (November 3, 1993 Prototype) | is there a dissasembly that you can rip tilesets from i am wondering bc i wanna rip the background tileset for hydrocity zone and have it in a 512x512 sheet but i cant find any |
| Jul 25, 2020 8:35 PM | LukeWarnut | Update: Sheets and Leaks | @TeridaxXD001: The leak in question contains files that were obviously stolen from Nintendo's servers. Many other prototypes are often cartridges that somehow found their way out of the hands of Nintendo. |
| Jul 25, 2020 8:28 PM | Dortorpife | Asset: Paper Mario | For the separate pieces (like the hands and arms that are put over the body) there needs to be no outline, so it doesn't overlap Mario. In-game, I'm guessing they just use some sort of shader element that draws the outline on a layer below. |
| Jul 25, 2020 8:24 PM | Temmle_IsAwesome | Asset: Spring Yard Zone | i did not rip it because i realized it was already ripped in 3d blast 5 |
| Jul 25, 2020 8:19 PM | Cheesy Mac n Cheese | Update: Sheets and Leaks | To be fair, all prototypes are technically leaked. So it’s kind of a double standard to reject these but keep other examples. Just sayin’. |

| Jul 25, 2020 7:33 PM | SmallpryV | Asset: Super Mario World Prerelease Recreations | Crazy to think that we have the official versions of these sprites now! |
| Jul 25, 2020 7:18 PM | Random Talking Bush | Game: Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon | @The Scarecrow: It's a lot harder to extract sprites from this game than you think, you need to manually assemble them since they're all in hundreds of pieces in the game's data (from what I've seen). |
| Jul 25, 2020 6:36 PM | teh_supar_hackr | Game: Bank Heist | The very primitive game like GTA, but nothing like GTA! |
| Jul 25, 2020 6:36 PM | The Scarecrow | Game: Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon | Disappointing, that it only has just that of sprites. |
