i just noticed: the sprite from when Sonic gets up in his "Very Bored/Continue" animation is the exact same as that one frame from the Nick Arcade prototype after Sonic bonked into a wall at full speed and then got back up |

thejohnston7's right. White counts as a transparency for these, because the palette is already taken up by black and two shades of grey (meaning four colours total including transparency, if white wasn't transparent then that'd be five). |
