Ocean Software also published licensed home computer ports of Donkey Kong and they were arcade-perfect.

There are two versions of this game on the Commodore 64. One was an unreleased prototype version by Atarisoft. The other, shown here, was by Ocean Software. This version, unlike Atarisoft's Mario Bros, did get released. However the controls in the Ocean version is very, very different than any other version of the arcade classic. Once you start moving, the only way to stop walking or running (depending on how long you hold the joystick left or right) is to press the joystick in the opposite direction. On the other hand, Atarisoft's version plays more like the arcade game.

Ocean can best be described as the British version of LJN. Complete with awful licensed games.

Ocean was the one who made it, I presume there's another version of this game made by a different company for the C64. There were a lot of double ports for this system if I recall.

Why is it 'Ocean'?
