Yesterday, I found out that Lu9 (who made the
Pooh
voices for Uberduck.ai) apparently made a short series of fan games called
Winnie the Pooh Lost in Mario World
11 years back. They used SMB1 SNES graphics with the
Adventures in the 100 Acre Wood
sprites. Alas, he didn't shade/recolour them to fit into the game's style and just left them 8 bit. From what I saw in the screenshots, he didn't remove Mario's name from the HUD either. Very curious indeed.

Some may wonder why he's SNES only, even though he only has three colours and could use the exact same palette as Mario; Like Doc von Schmeltwick, I too have come to accept how one of the biggest downsides to the NES original was the low quality style of its sprites. They just aren't worth imitating unless you're a total beginner, in some sort of hurry, for nostalgic reasons or just to pass time. If expanded and recoloured, this could also double as a SMB3 Pooh. I realised Mario already has the right body type and even similar arms, so I knew I had to do this. I'd say he turned out really good, and the SNES version would have support for Tigger or Piglet since Luigi is different.
@MisterMike Yes, but I still had to work out a good Fire palette (hence why there are three options because I couldn't decide how he would look). Personally, the middle one is the best. I tried to make the first two look like a suit that would be fireproof to protect him from his own fireballs, as opposed to his fur changing colour. Besides, being flammable didn't stop him and others from being depicted as firefighters (even in some licensed products).

"Fire Pooh(s)"? Ouch, sounds painful.
