Gonna give you that big asterisk with that third point, Saito. That's like asking "don't recolor the sprite red" as people will recolor it yellow anyway. I will respect your request. CERTAIN people in the mega man community on the other hand...

@GensokyoZXRedAce They're not, no. X is standing in a more hunched-over position in the Corrupted sprites, and details on the gloves and boots don't match up; neither do the health bars since Corrupted's has larger bars for the points.

@Dolphman Used to see PSX being used by some magazines back in the day with the alternative being PS as a short form name. Don't recall the official magazine or the official channels ever using it but it was common to see. As Dazz said it was a codename but was more like the Genesis name to the Mega Drive as SCEA didn't like the PlayStation name. Also recall seeing MXT (or something like that) for the Xbox 360.
Anyway, it more or less died out when the PS2 came out and especially the Japanese only PSX model of the PS2. Interestingly before there was a PSP, there was a magazine called PlayStation Power. Guess what their abbreviation was?

I think the "PS1" didn't really come about until the small, white Playstation launched. The PSX always referred to the original gray model, iirc. Then when the PS2 came out, the whole previous generation became known as PS1.
If it makes things easier, can can just rename this to "PS1."

@Dolphman: It was. Before being released, the PlayStation was code named PlayStation X, so the name stuck around as an abbreviation. It's not exactly a fitting abbreviation anymore, with PS1 being more apt, but it is a widely accepted initialism.

Also, the original PlayStation was never called PSX.

Aren't these the sprites for Mega Man X: Corrupted? X's style and that health bar look like it.
