@StarmanElite Believe it or not that has
actually
happened on N64 games but what happened back then was either buy the cartridge again at a later date when they did another print run or it was a recall where you contacted the publisher, sent the cart and/or proof of purchase and they gave you an updated version. For the latter, it was often low key and many people weren't aware but a magazine or the Internet if you was lucky would have mentioned the recall. The PS1/N64 era was when people outside of the industry were starting to become aware of this on consoles as that happened as far back as the Famicom in Japan, if you was a NBA Jam fan due to roster changes or the rare chance that you got an early copy of Sonic Spinball due to music differences. Revision changes were more on the sly back then unless you was on PC.
There were quite a few N64 games that had a second revision being released such as WWF No Mercy (fixing a save bug but is censored in terms of blood, most well known case), Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Turok Rage Wars (fixing a progression bug I think), Ocarina of Time (removing a chant), Majora's Mask. Japanese version of Kirby 64 even got to Rev C meaning that there are
4 revisions
of that game... Something tells me that a Rare game or two also had this but can't remember which ones.
Probably Midway did that on the safe side as they would have used that to show its progress at one point e.g. Alpha, Beta, blahblah with 1.0 being ready for retail. Then again they released unfinished versions or ones that got an update, Mortal Kombat 4 on the Dreamcast is a Hot! known example and Gauntlet Dark Legacy might have been another.

"Version 1.0" Like it's getting a software update on the Nintendo 64
