Having played 20 nonstop hours of this, I reverse engineered the ROM and wrote a program to extract the sprites. It's available here. All it requires is a copy of the WPJ2 ROM and a palette number (0-96) to rip the sprites in.

The spriting system in this game is rather sophisticated, as a single game object can be composed of multiple sprites at once with differing animation frame counts/lengths and position offsets. The separate objects combine to form many variations of the final sprite on screen. Of course, the extraction program could be modified to output the frame data as JSON or something to assemble later.

I emailed Darkwolf, though I'm not sure if he checked or not. If Darkwolf or anyone else wants to help do rips for this game, I do have a solution. I don't think the emulator of choice matters, but for this example, I use PJ64 3.X.X. Next download Angrylion RDP and use that plugin, it offers integer scaling, so it's easy to get rips with that. As Dazz mentioned, you can enter debug mode by using the GS code 801A8D88 00C0, then pressing start, then after R. For more info on the debug tool, you should read the cutting room floor page, it explains it in great detail. From there, just screenshot and crop the sprites. Josette has over 300 sprites, so this will be a time consuming process, however all sprites/animations in the game will be in debug mode, so good luck.

Sadly it took me so long to rip just this one sheet that I stopped working on ripping from this game. It's been years at this point; the way to rip is to get your window frame to 1:1 pixel ratio, and the game has a graphics viewing debug menu.

I'm so glad somebody is ripping the sprites from this game. Any plans on ripping Josette sprites? I would do it but Project 64 emulator won't have clean pixel perfect sprites and 1964 emulator does have pixel perfect sprites but I can't get passed the Josette letter screen it freezes. If anyone knows how to fix that I'll gladly rip them myself.
