There's also the fact it's a tactic strategy game with RPG elements. Which was quite an odd choice for Namco's first crossover with Capcom.
(Wouldn't surprise me if that was one of the reasons it never got released outside of Japan)

To be fair, unlike with the abject laziness they did with Capcom vs SNK 2, the sprites in this game use a totally different type of bodily proportions, so it'd look even more off than those did.
