@TwistedGear The body was incomplete in the comic, only the upper torso and head were actually fully assembled. It was clearly intended to be a much larger version of him.

It was the size of a drive-thru speaker in the comic though, so bit inaccurate to call it "giant form", even if the sprite would functionally be giant if it was used with other sonic sprites.

The story this is from also properly introduced Megaopolis after some scant mentions, and it was used as a replacement for Robotropolis after it got friggin' nuked (boo, I liked Robotropolis. I also liked Robo-Robotnik more than organic Eggman). The same issue's main selling point was a sexy fight between Bunnie and Rouge.
The aliens.... brought way too much deux es machina into the mix, it was basically a narrative "screw it."

@ElmerMouseFan32 From Archie Sonic issue #116 where Rouge the Bat was properly added to the cast after a lousy one-panel appearance in that terrible adaptation of SA2 (Which wasn't even a full one either!) The Robotnik they've been fighting was a robot clone from another dimension taking over as the big bad after their Robotnik perished. This is the robot form he takes in the same issue as an attempt to rebuild himself. Sonic defeats him with a stick of dynamite shoved in his mouth in a way that feels more like it came from a Bugs Bunny cartoon.
By #118, they finally got fed up with him being a robot and made a story where Eggman, Snively, Sonic and Tails are abducted by a race of aliens with the technology to reverse roboticization, and temporarily turn Sonic and Tails into mecha forms. After beating Eggman, they're sent back all flesh and bone.
And after that issue, Eggman and Snively stay organic for the rest of the comic's life before the reset and cancellation.

Could someone tell me where this is from? ^^;
I just can't remember where this originally came from.

That moment felt like a Looney Tunes gag. XD

I may add more to this later. I've always wanted to do the original body...

Seems like he could use a stick of dynamite in his mouth.
