@Méta Fixed!
@o0ramon0o The main page for these games is at "Pokémon Red and Blue", anything that's here is what's different from these releases.

@Yawackhary super rich response, thank you man. I guess I'll convert the HelixChamber to the lighter 85/170 since it's the one I was using initially. Any tool you recommend for doing this? I am currently working with Aseprite although I'm just getting started with the program and with the whole pixel art process altogether. Thanks again for the prompt reply my man.

@Méta @o0ramon0o The colors are different depending on what emulator that you use, some are very minor while others are a lot more different. It's not like the NES where it is personal preference but rather more like the Genesis where the older emulators are inaccurate while the newer ones tend to have the right palette. Even then there are variations.

Like SameBoy (considered one of the most accurate) has 85 for dark grey and 170 for light grey while mGBA is 83 for dark grey and 173 for light grey so not too far off. Some emulators chose 255 as pure white while others (older ones or ones designed for 15bpp) tend to go for 248. FrenchOrange's rips are 96 for dark grey and 168 for light grey with a 248 white, the dark grey is a bit lighter but the light grey is close. The HelixChamber proto map seems too dark with its colors (64 dark grey, 128 light grey)...

SGB is a bit different due to the SNES being involved and the conversion between the SNES and the PC in terms of palette range. bsnes and related emulators emulate the whole thing while most only emulate some functions (colors and borders) with the degree of color accuracy depends on the emulator e.g. mGBA is close to bsnes in terms of color with some variation but others might not be. Even within BizHawk and its graphics viewer, there are 3 different settings and bsnes changes its palette as time goes on regarding accuracy. GBC is yet another story...

@Méta the coloring may be off due to either the game enging (emulator) and the rom itself. This man at "helixchamber proto map analysis" has it down to a different kind of gray and now I don't know which is the correct one.

A side comment, or rather a doubt. Where are the character overworlds? Are they the same as the International Red and Blue?

P.S. Thanks FrenchOrange for the reply.

The background of route 02 doesn't seem to be the right one, it's identical to the one in Pokémon Red/Blue, and the tiles are different from the ones in the other routes. I ran Pokémon Green to check, and it indeed did not match the background shown here. But oddly enough, the thumbnail seems to be correct.
And the SGB colors also seem to be off for most if not all of the backgrounds. For example, in my screenshots of the game, the white color seems to be more green, and Pewter City is overall more grayish than here. And the colors of the SGB palettes are not consistent with the colors of the backgrounds, there is a slight difference between them, except for the black.

I'm not a ripper, so maybe there's a problem on my end, but it seemed a little too big not to point out.

@o0ramon0o Route 23 uses a separate tileset, which wasn't touched-up in any way when the games were localized.

Route 23 is missing. Is it the same as the International Red and Blue?

Couldn't the game just be called Pokemon Red and Green like the Japanese version? ?

@Doc That makes sense.

Also, I agree with TheGoomba98, this should really be named something like "Pokémon Red / Green (JPN)" and not just "Pokémon Green".

@Snessy No, because they're different. Japanese Blue is to Red and Green what Crystal is to Gold and Silver. But American Red and Blue are based off of Japanese Blue, not so much Red and Green, except for the 'mon combinations.

Shouldn't this be merged with the Red/Blue section?

Agreed, Red should be added to the title.

Why does everyone forget about Japanese Red?
