	Quite odd that they didn't even make new back sprites for JP Blue/International releases of gen 1. I don't even think they changed the back sprites for Yellow, which made the front sprites closer to the anime.

	Most likely to save space. The reason why they are bigger in game is because they are upscaled to be comparable to the front-facing sprites.

	Probably to save space? Either that or they didn't feel like making full sized sprites for the backs yet, which they DID do in gen 2 onwards

	It's kinda crazy to think that Pokémon back sprites are actually upscaled x2 of their actual resolution in gen 1, why they are even harder to make out than if they were to use the real pixel count.

	@TayAyase It's from Pokemon Red and Green, when the DRAWN art looked pretty weird in comparison to what it does now. These were perfectly on-model back then.
