@Random Talking Bush: No "mocking" was intended with that, sorry.

@Its-A-Me_Austin: Don't try to "mock" the staff with fake edits like that after your comment was rightfully edited.

I've played Super Mario 64 B3313, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, and PaRappa The Rapper there before, without it I wouldn't have experienced such great games on consoles I never had

@Its-A-Me_Austin have you ever played Mickey Mania? If not, I advise you to check out this game

Update 2: Just completed the game! It was a pretty fun playthrough for the most part, even if some of it was quite tedious (such as the part where Spoiler:you have to protect Buzz from the claw machine and the Spoiler:parts with RC) but I find the concepts executed in this game very interesting! Some of my favorite parts were the Spoiler:Alien rescue mission and the Spoiler:boss fight with the evil Buzz in Woody's dream.

@Its-A-Me_Austin I have known about this feature for a long time, but I want to tell you about another one, if you enter on the screen with a rendered picture: A+B+Right+A+C+A+Down+A+B+Right+A, then first it will say "HOT-HOT-HOT!" and after you get to level 1, press start and A, and you will miss the level, it works on all levels except "Rocket-Man", the funny thing about this code is that under it you can decipher the word "abracadabra"

Update: Just started playing the Genesis version of the game on *snip -- DO NOT REFERENCE ROM SITES HERE*, and it is JAM-PACKED with a variety of content and gameplay styles. The only problem is that the game is OVERWHELMINGLY difficult, but I found a secret that can help anyone who's very bad at gaming like me. (in spoiler) Aside from that, this game is a perfect adaptation of the first Toy Story movie and, just like the movie, still holds up very well.
The secret I was talking about: Spoiler:On the second stage, "Red Alert!", collect 7 and only 7 bonus stars, then go inside the toy box and crouch down for 7 seconds. You will then receive unlimited hit points and continues.

Also, the colors on the SNES one look too bright IMO

@Yawackhary Sega Genesis version is better, as the SNES has poor balance with Woody's handling

Genesis version. It is also one of the few times of recommending the PAL version due to the difficulty select option. The only plus about the SNES version is outside of the opening/credits, the soundtrack is just a bit better and even then the MD version has a few extra songs that are not in the SNES version (Level 1 with drums, Level Complete, Woody on Fire, Continue, Game Over). A shame that Matt Furniss didn't work on this otherwise it would be an easy win for the MD.

Besides when it comes to Traveller's Tales games, the Genesis/Mega Drive version is pretty much the lead console. Mega CD ports were enhanced (sadly Toy Story was just too late to receive one and too early to get a PS1 port) with the same for PS1/Saturn further down the line while SNES versions had loading times (technically decompressing times), worse collision detection/controls and cut backs, usually cutting out levels or parts of levels.

They're both the same unforgivingly difficult game, though the Genesis version has one exclusive level, Day-Toy-Na. That's a third person driving level

I've been considering playing this game for a long time because I've been a lifelong fan of the Toy Story movie franchise, the only question is which version of the game should I play? Is the SNES or Genesis version better?

@Yawackhary I have a feeling that Randy Newman played with .mod to create the soundtrack Strange Things (Main Menu) and You've got a friend in me (Credits) when the developers at Traveller's Tales were creating the game for Genesis

@Nontendo11 Only one .mod and three songs through. Still impressive in a proof of concept type of way and cannot deny that. It's similar but technically different to streamed music that pops up in Atari ST (After Burner and sounds good for early 1989 even if the song is cheesy, Cannon Fodder, Quik & Silva sounding good, Starglider one of the earliest and only 17 seconds long, Starglider 2, Stormlord, The Killing Game Show, Turrican, Turrican 2 with that being over 6 minutes long and sounds pretty good, Xenon 2 but massively cut back in length compared to the Amiga, those being the ones that I can think of) and even Amstrad CPC (Crazy Cars 2, Xyphoes Fantasy). For both, it takes up too much memory to be used in game and reserved for title screens.

The rest of the game uses the GEMS sound engine and yeah... a big downgrade. Still decent/good for GEMS standards though.

Fun fact: This game uses .mod sound files for the music.

@Chipper-52 There's a better alternative a lot of my friends use called LibreSprite. Not only is it free, it's also open source.

@VTN-RIPPER Of course, use Aseprite, you can do pixel animations there, you must have walking screenshots (for example, I did this to Buzz Lightyear), then select all the screenshots with this animation and import it there as an animation, then you have to export it as a GIF at 148x125, if the character doesn't fit in size like Rex, then you will have to use only one character sprite
