@Yawackhary Can confirm we got this game here as it was reviewed in Australian game magazines. The issue with PAL regions getting screwed over still happens.
For one, Australia never received the physical Switch copies of Mega Man 11 or BlazBlue Cross-Tag Battle, forcing us to import them overseas.
(The Switch being region-free is such a blessing, I honestly feel regional blocking shouldn't have ever been a thing with past consoles)

@DZTVE Why? Do you say the same for games that only came out in Japan? The US? Brazil? South Korea?

Historically when it came to consoles PAL regions got the worst treatment when it came to games. 50hz gaming affected a LOT of Japanese made games including Sonic 1, in terms of slower gameplay, larger borders and even the sound. When the Dreamcast offered 60hz support and the likes of the 360/PS3 having HD, gamers were happy that they finally got the same experience. Many classics weren't released at all, some weren't released despite that were ironically made in Europe (Mega Man Anniversary Collection, Nightmare Circus, many Rare developed NES games), released later than the US/Japan (many 1st party Nintendo games up to at least the Wii era, SMB3 was released the same year as SMW in the US and 3 years behind Japan!) or released YEARS later (e.g. Chrono Trigger, any Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy games before 7, TMNT 3 on the NES via the Cowabunga collection). It even applies today where Europe don't get physical copies of Capcom games that aren't Street Fighter or Resident Evil (even then that doesn't apply to the Switch RE games) or the recent Pac-Man Museum+.

In terms of the European market; a lot of those are licensed games that aren't known outside of their own countries, an arcade port/license but only have rights to a few countries, on systems that don't exist outside of Europe or PC. In rare cases due to a technical reason e.g. made using PAL resolutions in mind that wouldn't work at all with NTSC TVs. This is due to a different gaming industry. Doesn't help that a lot of games were made in a few weeks or months if you're lucky meaning that they often aren't polished or playtested properly but did improve over time. In some cases an European developer/publisher wanted to release a game elsewhere but couldn't due to various reasons (or in the case of the Master System had to ported it to the Game Gear but doesn't always work out like that). Like how many games from Japan were coming to the US but got cancelled?

At least The Smurfs is understandable why it was only released in Europe and possibly Australia (the US are more or less only aware of the Hanna-Barbara cartoon and later the live action movies while this was more based on the original Belgian comics, Infogrames was a French company and at the time, they didn't have an office in the US until they bought Ocean). The Game Boy game was released much later in the US but the other versions were dead (NES, Master System, Sega CD, Game Gear) or dying due to declining interest and the high cartridge costs meaning poor sales (SNES, Genesis with the latter being run by Majesco and not Sega). Doesn't explain why the GBA port/remake wasn't released though...

@Depressed Mario
Why should it be? Smurfs is European (Belgian to be exact) in the first place, so it makes sense that a big French game company makes a game based on it. Especially since they did so with other popular Franco-Belgian comics, like Asterix or Tintin.
