"Grinder" probably comes from "organ grinder." The original Japanese name was different too ("O-saru-san" instead of "Ucky").

Never understood why they called them "Grinder" to begin with. Especially when the game itself just calls them "monkeys"

Seems like they adopted the name in later YI installments, so I'm going to change the name of this sheet to "Grinder / Ukiki" to make searching easier.

@Ton They weren't called Ukikis until their reappearance in Super Mario 64. If I were to guess, the name change was done to avoid confusion with the saw blades from Super Mario World.
