New Game Features!

Hello everyone! I just finished adding in a couple of new features which I wanted to quickly highlight. On every game's main page, there is now a button allowing you to quickly jump to the "Add Sheet" form for that game. The game's title on the add page also links back to the original game so moving around the site should be a lot easier now.

You'll also notice, above that new button, a new table showing a couple of statistics for the game you're viewing. Sheet count is self explanatory but I do need to mention one thing about the hit count. We've only been tracking game hits since the new site launched so expect them to be a bit lower than you'd think, especially for popular games. Originally, this wasn't an issue since we were using that count to generate our popular games lists so nobody saw the actual number but now that it's visible, just keep that in mind.

So, enjoy the new features and as always, let me know if there are any issues!

Nice update!

I was wondering, maybe in each update you can show what new games have been added? like a section in the update called "new games" with games that don't have many sprites, so others know what they can work on! ^^

I'm not sure you understand how this works. When an update is posted with sheets attached, every sheet that has been uploaded to the site since the last update is included. Neither the person posting the update nor the person or people who submitted the sheets contained in it have any bearing on what actually gets posted beyond their initial submission.

Each submitter has their own profile on the site so you can see someone's submissions directly - no need to look at the updates. For example, Dazz's submissions can be found here and Mighty Jetters' can be found here.

As far as aiming at higher numbers, our record currently stands at 542 and can be seen on our stats page but we're not really focused on the number of sheets per update but rather the frequency of those updates themselves. If we only have a few sheets, we'll wait for more but in general, we don't like to wait too long before posting new content so sometimes, there may be 40 and others there may be 400 - it all depends on the site's activity.

Did you ever consider aiming at a higher submission number? :) Higher than 100?

I kinda like the idea of keeping track of the total number of submissions you get. I wouldn't mind seeing a day where you get over 200, or 300 submissions. :)

This feature change has absolutely nothing to do with how many sheets we have per update. :p 100+ or so is just a general number we like to try and have for each update so we can have sizable but still on-schedule updates.

So we'll still get over 100+ Sprite Sheet updates?

You mean 100+ sheets per new update? There was never a hard rule that required that but even if there was, this update doesn't really break it as I didn't include any sheets with with it. It was purely informational.

Where we usually get 100 submissions daily or more than that.

You should look at the update history to see what I mean.

Well, there goes the 100+ submission limit.

@Superjustinbros: It's on the list, we just haven't gotten around to finishing up the revision system yet. And yes, I'm not sure why Dazz used the word Sprite or made the buttons so huge. I'll discuss it with him tomorrow.

I'm also looking forward to being able to update sheets.

In any case very cool and convenient feature, thanks!

A great feature indeed!

So when will the submitter(s) be able to quickly update a certain sheet they submitted onto the site so I no longer have to rely on the moderators to update them?

P.S. I think you meant for the (quite giant) "Add Sprite" button to say "Add Sheet".

That functionality already exists on the control panel side and can't really exist on the live side since you wouldn't be able to add new games to letters that don't have existing games yet.

Any possibility of having an "Add Game" option?

Great new feature, I always had a bad habit of going to a game's section to try and submit something instead of clicking the "Submit" button first. :P
