Okay, so not quite (the ides of July would technically be tomorrow) but close enough! However, instead of a government coup, we have loads of great new sprites for you to check out instead! In no particular order, we have a few new Mario customs, more Titanic Explorer, Animal Island, Fullmetal Alchemist (in fact, it makes up the entire PSP section today), and of course more of the THE iDOLM@STER. As always, there's plenty more to see besides what I've listed here though so have a look and enjoy both the new content and the weekend!

It's weird for sure because technically speaking, the exact middle of the month would be half way through the day on the 15th but even "officially", the ides only ever marked the approximate middle of the month. That said, from what I can find, the ides of March, May, July, and October fall on the 15th and all other Roman calendar months fall on the 13th. I'm not sure how to translate it for non-Roman calendar months though.

The ides of July aren't the 15th. It's the 17th. Roman timing is weird

Yawackhary, yeah I get it. I just like compilation releases because you get multiple older games, demos, or some new games (I'm talking about the likes of Action 52). It's just nice to see some rips of those releases too. Like I said, compilation releases are my favorite type of video game release, and seeing them represented in updates is really nice.

Another great update.

As for compilation rips, it varies. Sometimes its just text or basic logos making them a bit boring, other times they put in some nice artwork and bonus stuff. Like a long time ago, ripped from various Mega Drive compilations because of those box arts redone as sprites.

Then again sometimes they do have their differences of note such as the Midway Arcade Treasures series on the PS2/Xbox where 1 had Defender II (originally known as Stargate) and 3 has a completely different title screen for Super Off Road redrawing the driver.

Good update; but than again, so is every update here. Even though I am not a staff member (I'm just a normal user), I'd like to thank the contributors of this update and the staff of the VG Resource sites. Now, with that out of the way, is anyone else excited about rips of compilation video game releases (my favorite type of video game release). Ah yes, a video game release, which contains multiple games in one release (usually on a single CD, DVD, Blu Ray disc, or cartridge; or a digital download [bought either as a package or sold individually [or in multiple packages]), containing multiple demos or full games (either from the companies back catalog or smaller new releases).
